Cindy Pridgen-Blog 1 Practice Makes Perfect!

Children need to read to learn to read well and develop a love for reading. Practice makes perfect. Reading opens the world to children! Author shared examples of what we as educators feel is important but we need to think what is most important. Reading needs to be value, a time set aside for it everyday as well as intergrating it anyway and anytime possible. We need to model good reading and making meaning of text, listen to readers and give feedback.

  1. That's where we're headed! I'm getting more and more excited as I listen to teachers talk about conversation that took place with students during conferencing. I think it is really helping teachers know and understand their students as readers. I am hopeful this makes a difference in the direction they take their class.

  2. It makes perfect sense--we need to read to learn to read!
